Tokyo Mirage Sessions (Switch)
I forever feel like I am bouncing between love and hate with this game. There is a lot wrong here and a ton stems from the flacid main character. Then you get characters like Kiria who are so fleshed out with twists and turns that really shine her depth as a character. It's hard to believe the two characters are from the same game.

I managed to clear another few side stories in the game, as well as clear most of Chapter 5. The end of this game is steamrolling and I think I'll be doing a big proper last word article when I get there.

The big thing was I cracked the code of how to really quickly level characters and generate the side stories I need to unlock the full potential of the cast. Unfortunately as I do that the game offers a really lame lack of a dungeon for Chapter 5, instead having me just retread to past dungeons with sections I couldn't access.

The biggest twist was the main plot advanced as Tiki gets her memories back. We learned that the game is a sequel to Fire Emblem 3, yes you read that right. The spirits of the dead from that era returned with the dark emperor kidnapping humans for hosts. Yashori's father sacrificed himself (I guess suicide on the spot) to save a few people which turned out to be the children there (I'm guessing most of our party) and then over the past 5 years has been building his army to awaken the Shadow Dragon. I feel like there is one more twist they are saving with the main character but for now the cards are on the table.
